Love More. Volunteer.

One of the greatest ways to show love is to help others. Volunteering seems to be something so many of us keep meaning to do, but with so many people in need and so many charities to choose from, the task of deciding where to put your efforts can be daunting. To make it a little easier, we’ve listed a few links and steps to help you make a decision and start doing that thing you keep meaning to do…volunteer.

Step 1. Figure out what you’re passionate about

Do you adore animals, have a heart for children, or love the arts? Have you or a loved one gone through issues that are now relatable and more meaningful for you? What area do you feel strongly about that you could make a difference in?

Step 2. Find a way to help your cause

Google is our best friend these days. Just look up “Volunteer Opportunities, your town, and subject” and see what comes up. Or you can search for sites ready to make it even easier.

Volunteer Match is a great resource with lots of filters to help you narrow down the search.

If you’re in the Raleigh/Durham Triangle area, Activate Good makes it really easy to find something based on dates and subjects that matter to you.

Step 3. Make a Deadline & Schedule it

Get some friends together or do it on your own. But either way, make a deadline. When do you want to volunteer by? Find something specific to do and sign up. Put it on your calendar. And just do it! Once you get in the rhythm of helping others, you’ll realize how much you’re getting out of it too.

Like Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Go find yourself today!
