Couple Finds the Perfect Engagement Ring After a Year of Loss and Reconnection

Bailey’s Fine Jewelry loves to help patrons find the perfect ring and send them ‘happily ever after’ with their gorgeous ring in a beloved Bailey’s Box. Every so often, we have the honor of helping an extra special bride-to-be whose love story touches our hearts and gives us hope.

When Beth walked into Bailey’s Fayetteville location for the Estate Jewelry Show she was in search for the perfect vintage engagement ring. After looking at a few stunning rings with Bailey’s associates, Beth pulled out her iPhone to FaceTime her fiancé, Mason, stationed in Afghanistan. This was a very happy and exciting moment after a year filled with sadness, loss, reconnection and new beginnings.

Beth and Mason first met when their families were stationed by the Army in Italy 11 years ago. When military families are overseas, friends often become like family and this was the case with Beth and Mason. Their two families were very close and Mason was even asked to be the godfather of Beth’s daughter. As the years went by, the two lost touch as their careers took them to different places across the globe.

Beth and Mason reconnected after both lost their spouses last year. They were able to support each other in a way no one else could during such a difficult time. Through their reconnection, Beth was able to begin to navigate her new normal.

“Others didn’t know what to say, but Mason did. He understood that not all good mornings were good,” said Beth. “We started to realize that happiness was coming from each other and I started to cry more happy tears than sad tears.”

RING 3

Throughout last year, the couple began to spend more time together with Beth making trips with her daughter to visit Mason in Kansas and Mason and his son making trips to North Carolina to spend time with Beth and her family. After taking their children on a vacation together in Mexico, Mason knew he wanted to marry Beth.

Mason was deployed to Afghanistan at the end of July. The couple continued to try to talk daily via FaceTime whenever internet access would allow them. During one conversation Mason shared his plans with Beth and mentioned that he intends to propose when he gets back to the U.S.

Soon after, the couple started to discuss rings and agreed that they wanted to find a vintage ring, but it had to be THE ring. One day Beth received an email from Bailey’s about a traveling Estate Jewelry Show. Beth has been a long-time patron of Bailey’s and shared her thoughts with Mason about checking out the Estate Show. Mason has visited Bailey’s before to purchase a Pandora bracelet for Beth’s daughter and agreed that Beth should check out the Estate collection. Unfortunately, internet access is not always reliable for Mason and it was difficult to search for engagement rings on the internet. So Beth started to browse for perfect ring.

Luckily, Beth was able to FaceTime Mason from Bailey’s while she was shopping. He was able to talk directly to the Bailey’s associates who were excited to provide him ring details and show him the beautiful collection. After seeing the selection and talking over the decision, the couple finally found their perfect vintage engagement ring.

BAILEYBOX RING

“I couldn’t be more blessed with anyone better to start a new life. You can still honor and love those you lost and find the glory in life still,” Beth explained. “For everything that was so devastating we could find something good, we’re so blessed.”

Now with perfect ring in hand, Mason just needs to complete that one ‘minor’ detail of proposing when he returns in a few months. Now it’s on to Pinterest and wedding plans for the couple who are hoping to have a fall wedding in New England next year.

We wish Mason and Beth all the best in their life together and thank them for sharing their story of love and hope with us!
