Bailey’s Fine Jewelry’s Joyce Satterfield Wins Herend Design Contest

GREENVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2011) – Joyce Satterfield, a sales associate at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry in Greenville, has won the prestigious Kingdom Classic design competition sponsored by porcelain manufacturer Herend® with a nomination she submitted featuring the peace dove. Herend, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of porcelain, holds its Kingdom Classic contest annually in search of a design to be turned into a special-edition figurine.

Satterfield submitted her nomination of a peace dove with an olive branch in its beak last February. She found out a few months later that the peace dove had been chosen to be turned into the 2011 Kingdom Classic figurine. To date, it has been created in gold, platinum and rust. It will also be available in rust, blue, black, butterscotch and green at stores this spring.

The Kingdom Classic contest was recently opened to employees of Herend retailers which includes Bailey’s. Satterfield saw the contest as an opportunity to spread peace and joy in trying times.

“I’m extremely pleased with how the figurine turned out,” said Satterfield. “My nomination was inspired by both biblical references and events in our modern life. I just thought that the world needs peace and what better way to show that than a peace dove with an olive branch.”

Satterfield’s peace dove will make its debut at the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market this week. The figurine will be available from all Herend retailers. Herend is currently sold in 375 retail stores in 42 states and on five continents. Herend is sold at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry locations in Greenville, Rocky Mount and Raleigh’s Cameron Village. The figurine will be permanently retired at the end of the year.
