RALEIGH, N.C. (March. 12, 2014) – Bailey’s Fine Jewelry Custom Designer and Jeweler Richard Nobrega has been honored by the American Gem Trade Association for his design and creation of a platinum pendant featuring a 6.8 citrine accented with diamonds.
Nobrega won the AGTA Spectrum AwardsTM in the category of classical platinum innovation. The Spectrum Awards is considered the most celebrated jewelry and gemstone competition in the world. Since its launch in 1984, the Spectrum Awards has worked to honor, recognize and promote designers whose work reflects the standards of excellence within the industry. The competition has launched trends and inspired great innovation in use of color and materials in jewelry design.

Nobrega is an exceptionally skilled custom designer and jeweler at Bailey’s Cameron Village location. His winning entry was a platinum pendant featuring a 6.80 carat cushion, brilliant-cut citrine accented with four diamonds. The citrine was cut by Bailey’s Custom Designer, Philip Lagas-Rivera.
“It is extremely rare for an independent jeweler to have a gemstone cutter on site,” said Phillip Neathery, workshop service manager at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry’s Cameron Village location. “A gemstone cutter can take any rough piece of colored stone, bring it to life and set it in a beautiful piece of jewelry.”
The piece will be on display at Bailey’s Cameron Village location and is on sale for $4,000.
