As a basic guideline, you should never wear your watch in a swimming pool even if it’s water resistant. The chlorine in swimming pools can break down certain alloys in your watch. All automatic watches should have an overhaul every few years. All battery operated watches should be checked every so often as well to replace the battery and water pressure test the seals.
