Buy Hoops to Bring Hope during March Madness at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 5, 2009) - Score hoops at Bailey’s Fine Jewelry as they gear up for March Madness. This spring, Bailey’s stores in Raleigh, Rocky Mount, and Greenville will be contributing 10 percent of all sales on hoop earrings to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund™. The fundraiser includes any pair of hoop earrings in the store, starting at $20 all the way up to high-end designers.
“We’re basketball fanatics, so our family is excited to have found a way to bring March Madness and fine jewelry together to support a great cause,” said Trey Bailey, director of operations for Bailey’s Fine Jewelry. “We followed Kay Yow through her career, and are proud to be able to contribute to a cause that is dear to the hearts of her fans.”
The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund is a charitable organization, dedicated to the fight against women’s cancers. Kay Yow, the former NC State head women’s basketball coach, was a founding member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, Yow served as head coach for 38 years and was one of only six Division I head women’s basketball mentors to achieve 700 career victories. After facing three bouts with the disease, she passed away in January of 2009. The Fund is the first charity that the WBCA has chosen in its 28 year history, as it now works in partnership with The V Foundation to raise money for scientific research, assist the underserved, and unify people for a common cause.
